Education is one of the most powerful instruments for transforming society. The vision of Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the great educational pioneer and founder of the CMI Congregation, continues to inspire us to view education as a sacred mission—one that enlightens the mind, strengthens the character, and awakens the spirit of service in every learner.

At Sacred Heart CMI Public School, we believe that education extends far beyond textbooks, examinations, and academic achievements. The true purpose of education is to help young people discover who they are, understand their responsibilities towards others, and develop into individuals who contribute positively to society.

The world in which our children are growing up is rapidly changing. Technology has brought immense opportunities, but it has also created challenges that demand our attention. Children today are spending increasing amounts of time with screens and digital devices. While technology is an indispensable part of modern life, it should remain a tool and never become a substitute for human relationships, meaningful experiences, and personal growth.
I would like to encourage our students to put aside their gadgets for a while and reconnect with the world around them—to walk amidst nature, observe its beauty, listen to its sounds, and appreciate its lessons. Nature teaches patience, resilience, harmony, and respect for life. Some of the most valuable learning experiences occur not within four walls, but under open skies, on playgrounds, and through meaningful interactions with people and the environment.

Equally important is the need for children to engage in group activities and outdoor games. Participation in sports and team games teaches lessons that no textbook can fully impart. It helps students understand cooperation, leadership, discipline, perseverance, and mutual respect. Most importantly, it teaches them to accept both victory and defeat with grace. Learning how to win without arrogance and how to lose without discouragement are essential life skills that prepare young people for the realities of life.

As educators, we also have a responsibility to nurture civic consciousness among our students. Respecting public spaces, following rules, caring for the environment, valuing diversity, and showing consideration for others are qualities that strengthen communities and build a responsible nation. Civic sense begins with simple everyday actions and grows into a lifelong commitment to the common good.

The CMI vision of education seeks the formation of enlightened citizens who combine knowledge with wisdom, competence with compassion, and success with social responsibility. We aspire to develop young men and women who are academically proficient, ethically grounded, environmentally conscious, and committed to serving society with integrity and love.

As we journey together as a school community, let us continue to inspire our children to dream, explore, create, serve, and grow into responsible human beings who will make a positive difference in the world.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus bless our students, families, and all those who are part of this noble mission of education.

With prayerful wishes,
